animation ideas

This week i have three ideas of what i want to do for my animation. i am planning on doing a pixilation video.

Idea 1: Two people are at the beach. They build a sand man. The sand man starts to move and make noises. The two people run away from him into the sea and he follows. He melts.

Idea 2: A dog and a boy are playing. The boy throws a stick and the dog chases after it. The dog disappears. They end up in the middle of a dark wood.

Idea 3: Two people play football on a field. one trips the other up and they break out into a brawl. They become best of friends.

Props: Sand, pebbles, seaweed.
People: Using two boys.
Cut out characters: don't need any using people.
Sound-FX: Some strange noises for the sandman's voice.
Music: using the music i created in Clive's class.
Sets: At the beach.
Backgrounds: Beach.

At first the boys will walk onto the beach and find a spot to sit down. They will begin to gather sand for the sandman.

They will start building the sandman from the bottom always adding sand. Once the sandman is built they will add two pebbles as the eyes.

One of them will go and find some seaweed and bring it back to create the sandman's mouth. The sandman then starts to talk/make strange noises.

The two boys get freaked and run toward the sea. They don't reach the sea but lay flat on the floor so that he can't see them, but the sandman follows them. Thinking the have gone in, he goes into the sea. We see him melt into the sea. Then see the boys lying on the floor.

time lapse

A time lapse is when you take photos  or videos of something happening over months or years, however it is then all squished down into maybe 30 seconds or 1 minute long. This makes the video look faster than it took.

an example of time-lapse is this video of dubai.

There is also speed drawings which are just time lapse but drawings, where someone is filming themselves drawing. This drawing may take them hours or days, and it is all condensed down into minute long videos.

pixilation

Title of Today's Lesson: Pixilation

My Aims and Objectives for Today are: to make a pixilation 'movie'

How to Stretch and Challenge Myself

For Today's Lesson this will mean:

Remembering:to move before taking the next picture
Understanding:that moving too far will make it jump instead of linking together
Applying:knowledge of the software to make somethng
Analysing:i thought i did well with this animation
Evaluating:i enjoyed making this video
Creating:the actual 'movie'

Reflection during lesson

How am I doing so far: we have created 4 seconds of the animation

Reflection at end of lesson: i think i did well this lesson in the making of our animation

What have I achieved? we created an animation where i pull Sophie into the camera and then push her back again.

1970's +

Model based animation

Tony Hart was an English artist and children's television presenter. He made the model animation of morph. Morph is a clay stop-motion comedy animation. This first previewed on the 15th february 1977.  Model based animation is a sequence of 3D objects that move. The models are usually made from clay or plasticine. These materials are used because thy are easy to move and mould into different shapes. This means they look more realistic. These animations are made like most other stop motion animations, a photo is take and then the model is moved slightly then another photo is taken, which gives the illusion of movement. (Anon, 2016)
Cut out animation

Terry Gilliam is an american-born British screenwriter, film director, animator, actor, comedian and member of the monty python comedy troupe. Gilliam created captain Pugwash which is a cut out animation programme which was first shown on the BBC in 1957 but a later colour version first shown in 1974-75. This animation is created with flat objects. This is normally paper or card or photographs. (Wikipedia, 2016) This animation is like the others, photos are taken and then the object is moved and another photo is taken. However unlike other animation, where the camera is normally in an upright position, in cut out animation, the camera is facing downwards. (Thespecialeffectsblog.blogspot.co.uk, 2016)

Cell based animation

Oliver Postgate was an English, puppeteer and writer. He was the creator and writer of some of Britain's most popular children's Tv shows. He created The Clangers which is cell based animation. it was first shown between 1969 and 1972. Followed by the first three special episodes that were broadcast in 1974.

Aardman animations

It is a British animation studio based in Bristol. They created Wallace and Gromit. Wallace and Gromit is a clay based comedy animation. It first previewed on the 25th december 1989.
Most original animations where targeted towards older adult audiences, however the more recent animations started targeting younger audiences as well and animation became popular to family audiences.
